Theft Deterrent Composite Cable from ERICO® is Ideal for Applications Where Copper Theft May OccurTheft deterrent composite cable is a bare concentric stranded conductor that is ideal for exposed electrical distribution grounding leads where copper theft may be an issue. Theft deterrent composite cable is a bare concentric stranded conductor that consists of peripheral galvanized steel stranding, which protects and conceals the internal copper strands. The internal copper stranding increases conductivity and conductor flexibility. The copper stranding is also tinned to improve corrosion resistance.
This conductor is ideal for exposed electrical distribution grounding leads where copper theft may be an issue. To deter thieves looking for copper, the outer steel stranding conceals the copper stranding. The conductor is also difficult to cut with hand tools.
The CC5A04 (7-strand) and CC5A05 (19-strand) are electrically equivalent to a 4 AWG (16 mm2), and the CC5A12 (157-strand) is approximately equal to a 3/0 AWG (70 mm2).
ERICO® offers a range of connectors that are compatible with theft deterrent cable. In addition, the conductors are compatible with CADWELD® Welded Electrical Connections.
